Sixth national arts festival in Heredia 2005

San Jose, Costa Rica (ICT) - Encouraging the general public to take to the streets and experience art is the goal of the Sixth National Arts Festival in Heredia, 2005 to be carried out the coming June 18 - 26 at this province.

The epicentre of Costa Rica’s greatest and most important cultural party is the central park of the province of Heredia and its surroundings.

With a great technical display of lights, sound and platforms on such historical sites as the Kiosk, the Fortress, the House of Culture, the Prison, the Aula Magna of Heredia’s Lyceum and other beautiful patrimonial places, are to be concentrated during nine consecutive days with the best of the dance, the music, the theatre, the circus, folklore, the fine arts, as well as the Fourth International Poetry Festival, incorporated within the frame of the Sixth National Arts Festival in Heredia 2005.

Its 15 headquarters have been programmed with over one hundred shows for children, teenagers and adults, performed by some 3.000 artists from all of the national territory. These cultural activities will be offered before noon and up to almost midnight, that means 12 hours of uninterrupted art and totally for free.

A unique and innovative activity for this year will be the Arts Boulevard where entertainment and fun will be concentrated in 300 meters of the central avenue of the city of Heredia. These 300 meters are going to be available only for walkers since the road will be closed, to be inhabited exclusively by art and its public.

On this boulevard and during the nine days of the event, there will be parades and street shows with the music of bands and cimarronas, masquerades, circus acts, happenings and many other activities such as workshops and handicrafts’ exhibitions, to which the whole family is invited to participate.
